கிறிஸ்தவர்களுக்கு பல தவறான வரலாறுகளும், கொள்கைகளும், கதைகளும் கற்பிக்கபட்டு வருகிறது என்பது நாம் கண் கூடாக கண்ட ஒன்று. இந்த வரிசையில் சில கொள்கைகளையும் கதைகளையும் பார்ப்போம்.

ஏசு இந்திய மக்களுக்காக, இந்திய மக்களின் 'பாவங்'களை துடைப்பதற்காக தன்னுடைய ரத்தத்தை சிந்தினாராம்.

The Anti-Modi Christian Agenda

“Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see” is a line from a famous song. Some people have all the luck – they actually live that line in bliss. There are those who defend Leslee Undwin’s documentary under freedom of expression without thinking about the sinister motive of the then Congress govt and the film-maker and her funders and her violation of many agreed terms. They forget, the same govt had threatened and bullied a TV series called Crime Patrol over making an episode on Nirbhaya. The producers even received threats on the phone. But the Congress govt was happy to allow Udwin right into Tihar jail, have a loverly chat with the rapists and use the soundbites from one to tar an entire country – the target obviously being tarring Hindu culture as one of “rapists”. For the benefit of the ignorant ones, the whole operation of the documentary with the covert operators behind it is detailed in this Storified page.

Udwin’s documentary was given permission to film in July 2013 and one has to wonder why it took two years to make and why release it only recently around Women’s Day this year. Had it been released prior to May 2014 I doubt Congress would have got 44 seats even. But Udwin’s documentary is just one small part of a diabolical Christian onslaught on the ModiSarkar. Foreign terrorists often operate with local accomplices. This Christian hitjob by Udwin & Co did have their Christian accomplices in Delhi – NDTV:

The reward for NDTV was to do a world premiere of this Christian filth. BBC-4 carried it though. In my post “The 11th hour’’ I had mentioned how desperate attempts were being made by the Chrislamists to stop Narendra Modi from becoming PM. They had realised by then that the prospect was imminent. Christian bigot John Dayal was with his bigot-counterparts in the US Congress still trying to retain the ban on Modi’s US travel. The stupid principal of St Xavier’s Mumbai was writing emails to his students with an implicit message to not vote BJP. A host of other dubious Fiberals were writing open letters in newspapers to keep the BJP out. Unfortunately for them, the inevitable happened. The Christian regime of Sonia Gandhi was thrashed in the LS elections. It forced AK Antony to admit Congress is perceived as “anti-Hindu”. He makes just one error, it’s not a perception – Congress under Sonia was indeed anti-Hindu and Congress has always been so.

I call the SoniaG regime a Christian-regime. Under her hundreds of dubious NGOs with a Christian agenda set up shop, got huge funds from abroad and the conversion-factory witnessed a boom. Most of these NGOs were funded by the same covert ops specialists that funded Udwin’s documentary. The late YSR more or less created “industrial zones” for these conversion factories as his state hosted the biggest operators from the industry. The Sonia-Christian regime had support from all the Christian lobbies from the West. In India, the Commie media backed their operations for their covert war against Hindus and Hindu culture. It is the one religion or culture that the Chrislamists haven’t been able to destroy but it is WIP. Even stupid Hindus who are too blind to see these operations to destroy them blissfully live easy in misunderstanding. It took just a few days after ModiSarkar got in for the chaos and anarchy operators to start their war against Modi and his govt. The first being the concocted agitation against power cuts and power bills in Delhi. Considering this was nothing new and ModiSarkar was just in, these Western pimps had already started plotting his fall.

All you have to do is imagine that BJP had only 249 seats and 33 other coalition members in the govt and I guarantee this – the govt would have already faced a no-confidence motion in parliament. It would have faced such a motion every six months. It is just that BJP having 282 on its own makes that operation difficult to carry out. The situation for the Christian conversion-mafia aggravated after the govt choked funds to spurious NGOs sometime around August-September 2014 and I know this for a fact:

At the start of 2015 a few churches were vandalised and one was earlier gutted. That was another trigger to start off a “Christians under attack, Christians under attack” campaign. This was followed by a moronic “religious intolerance” comment by Barack Obama which the media comfortably used as another snub to the so-called “fringe” Hindu forces. Only a fool would believe Obama’s reference to the incident was an accident or out of any real concern. We don’t know who did it but chances are those opposed to Modi were the ones responsible. The media screamed “Christians under attack” again after a recent attack on a church at Mangalore. Turns out the attack was by a disgruntled employee (just like those who frequently slapped Arvind Kejriwal for which AAP conveniently blamed BJP). The professional agitators of AAP held another street agitation against the church attacks. Take that, more paint to the campaign of “Christians feel unsafe” under ModiSarkar.

Nothing is accidental about these events. These are all well-choreographed and scripted. There is just one problem. As usual, the lies are quickly spread but truth takes a while longer to come out. When the data on attacks on places of worship came out the attacks on churches were the least in number (not that any attack is justifiable). But like in the trading industry the smallest dealer makes the loudest noise. This data carried in IE should shame all the liars in the media and politics but it won’t. As always, LIE BIG, retract small – sometimes don’t even retract:

Church attacks were no better under the previous Christian regime of SoniaG but it is now being amplified as “Christians under attack, Christians under attack”. The Muslims are not so much into organised conversion as Christians except through marriage and are sizeable in India to carry out any campaign that their community demands or needs. In contrast, the Christians are a smaller percentage at 3 or 4. Therefore, their international accomplices in their agenda play a big part in tarring the Modi govt as anti-Christian. Thus, the Modi govt is being painted as anti-Christian even though he has indulged in appeasement of this community by meeting them and even taking personal interest in getting a Christian conversion-factory worker released from Afghanistan. These attacks are not going to stop soon. And our media runs to prominent Christians to vent their imaginary frustration very emotionally as this stupid headline from Indian Express from an Oped by Julio Ribeiro, a former decorated cop:

Really? Over what? The church attacks that were amplified, that Mother Teresa was exposed as a fake angel and GharWapsi. This is as sick as a silly old man can get. Talking emotional nonsense that will then get tom-tomed by our media mafia to further tar the Modi govt and portray Hindus as fascists who want to destroy Christians. He feels a stranger in his own country. Don’t forget the silly morons who wanted to leave India if Modi became PM. Don’t forget the bimbo who said she has a small child and how could she live in India if Modi became PM. All these calamity-mongers are the biggest scumbags – some willing and some merely stupid. You would wonder why otherwise sensible Hindus (at least those with Hindu names) fall for this stupidity. Just look at the Brown slave Ashutosh Varshney. This Barkha-sidekick whines for what Ribeiro writes without the slightest concern for facts. They whine because their money comes from the guys who further the Christian agenda.

The Fiberal writers and other sundry activists of the Hindu variety also do the same to further the Christian agenda because their publishers, their money and the awards they value and the junkets they are sponsored to, all come from the same Christian fountain. The few RW journalists will also not speak out loud because their bread too is buttered indirectly by the same mafia. That is how SoniaG built her vast coterie. As soon as he realised the folly of the nonsense he had written, Ribeiro had to admit he had chewed the very hand that fed him all of his 86 years. He admitted to a channel that he had exaggerated his crap which bigger morons like Varshney easily buy and so do many stupid Fiberal Hindus. The loss of 10 years of unhindered Christian agenda peddling is starting to take a toll and therefore this campaign. There are two joint signature themes to this campaign:

“Modi is anti-minority and

There, the theme has been established and it will continue to hog headlines with fake news or incidents amplified to disproportionate levels right through the next few years. Don’t look too far. The pimps at NDTV wasted no time in exploiting the Udwin documentary and anti-women theme during an interactive session with Christian Lagarde of the IMF. A dumb girl, cleverly tutored by NDTV (and probably a future anchor for them), asked the IMF head this question on March 16:

At least C5M Sagarika was kinder; she said all Indian males are ugly. So, it is not just men according to NDTV pimps but it only Hindu men who will benefit from Modi govt’s policies. What pigs formulate such tactics if not for anti-Hindu Christians? If this is the sample of an educated woman in Delhi who keeps track of growth, politics or media then she comes from the dumbest of samples. This is because Modi’s record in Gujarat and at the Centre shows a strong (desirable) bias towards growth of women (even campaigns like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao). Modi was CM of a state where women never experience fears and move freely even in late hours in the night. Women visitors to the state have acknowledged this.

There is worse; some spokie for the Bengal convent said on NDTV on March 17 the rapists at Nadia school vandalised the church and that it was part of the “GharWapsi” program. GharWapsi is done through rapes and church attacks? What kind of extreme anti-Hindu bitching is going on here? Destructive speculation (read: rumor) is cheap in India, it abounds everywhere against everyone, it is common even among the educated classes.

The only solution is for all Indians and foreigners to become adherents to the principle of habeus corpus with respect to the more suspect claims from India.

They are free to blame anyone and everyone they choose, hindus bjp illuminati whatever, for all the troubles they face. This goes for anyone.

We only need to remind everyone, Indians and foreigners, that without evidence, claims are just opinion and not fact.

If there is evidence that BJP politicians enacted (or refused) any policy or released any statement (official or otherwise) or pardoned any crime or expressly supported any platform, and this was done with an element of intent to enable activity that would otherwise be considered criminal, then let their detractors make public all the evidence of that.

If it is convincing beyond reasonable doubt, then BJP should be expected to explain themselves. Otherwise, rape is the fault of... the rapist. India is a democracy. It should not be convincing to say by itself "the act of being voted into office was the crime".

Regardless, if pressed for such a quality of evidence, the likely response will not be to present it, but rather to adopt the platform that Catholics face an ultimately existential threat in India, and that alone is enough to be suspicious of the motives of their host because no risk of malicious intent is tolerable to such an embattled community.

I'll be fair and say I kind of get the logic there. The idea being that, once in a while make an example of someone, Modi for example, just to keep everyone on their toes, given that they are supposedly in such a precarious position that they can't risk requiring the same quality of evidence of being wronged as more established communities.

Still, this seems unlikely given that Hinduism has never had any doctrine provisioning followers to antagonize minority faiths, and that the rate of population growth of Christians relative to the national average has been slightly greater as per recent census data (22.6% vs. 22.0% between 2001 thru 2011). Whatever is going on, they are certainly not going extinct more than any other community their size in India.

My suggestion to them, and all communities, is to do a better job at self-reflection, recognize paranoia. There are plenty of issues that warrant greater attention from them. For the record there are crusades of BJP I also find suspect esp. with regard to censorship.

India targets Western, Christian groups at odds with Hinduism

VARANASI, India — A crackdown on private activist groups, especially Western and Christian organizations, has many here worried that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is selectively targeting organizations that don’t fit into his nationalist vision of India emphasizing Hinduism.

In the most notable instance, Greenpeace India is fighting for its survival in Indian courts after the government seizure of its accounts and temporary withdrawal of its license last year. The government said the organization was receiving foreign funds illegally.

An appeals court has allowed the Indian chapter of the environmental nongovernmental organization to remain open until a judge hears arguments in the case. In the meantime, Greenpeace India is limping along without funds from its international headquarters.

Vinuta Gopal, who stepped down as Greenpeace India’s interim executive director Jan. 20, said Mr. Modi’s regulators were targeting her group because of its advocacy for sustainable development that countered the prime minister’s relentless push for economic growth and support for business.

“The Home Ministry’s clumsy tactics to suppress free speech and dissenting voices are turning into a major national and international embarrassment for this government,” said Ms. Gopal. “This is an extension of the deep intolerance for differing viewpoints that sections of this government seem to harbor.”

Occupying an uneasy space between the state and individual voters, nongovernmental organizations that deal with hot-button issues including the environment, mining, ethnic rights and democracy-building have found themselves in the crosshairs in countries such as China and Russia.

Even Israel is facing heat from the Obama administration and American Jewish groups over a bill in the Knesset that would require nongovernmental organizations funded by foreign governments to label themselves as such in official meetings and in official reports. Critics of the bill in Israel and the U.S. say it amounts to a backdoor attempt to silence criticism of the government over its treatment of Palestinians and Israel’s Arab minority.

Greenpeace India is one of the five high-profile NGOs — including the United Theological College and the Salve Regina Charitable Trust, both based in Bangalore — whose operations have come under fire during Mr. Modi’s 1-year old tenure in office. Elected on a platform of reforming India’s notoriously backward business sector, the 65-year-old prime minister has also pursued a forceful agenda to promote Hindu values in a massive, diverse country that is around 80 percent Hindu but officially a secular democracy.

It didn’t start with the current government. Mr. Modi’s predecessors stopped foreign funding for almost 8,700 NGOs under a 2010 law that sought to reduce outside influence in the country, especially when it was linked to religious organizations that lawmakers feared could foment interfaith strife.

But Mr. Modi is now targeting popular groups that have long operated legally in India, a shift that NGO representatives say reflects his agenda to curtail non-Hindu groups.

“For sure, Hindu radical forces seek revenge on minorities,” said Lenin Raghuvanshi, founder of the People’s Vigilance Committee on Human Rights.

He acknowledged that foreign NGOs can be badly managed, sometimes deliberately so. “That’s why they disturb those whose agenda goes against their ideology,” he said.

The Indian government recently shut down the Kerala-based Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services — one of the five high-profile groups under fire — because the group reportedly failed to pay its annual income tax. But analysts say its real offense was maintaining popular social welfare programs in the spirit of a Western faith, said John Dayal, general secretary of All India Christian Council and member of National Integration Council, a government advisory board on religious and ethnic tolerance.

Selective targeting

Plenty of NGOs in India’s corruption-riddled economy maintain shoddy accounting practices, said Mr. Dayal, but officials in Mr. Modi’s government are selective in which ones they target.

“If a Christian or minority organization is working peacefully, the government tends to disrupt that peace,” said Mr. Dayal. “It is evident that many of the organizations do not pay taxes. But why specifically target those who are working for social welfare?”

The Indian Ministry of Home Affairs did not respond to requests for comment.

Last year, regulators from the ministry sought to close the United Theological College on charges of tax evasion and financial mismanagement, as well as engaging in political activity by encouraging students to protest a steel mill project that was displacing local villagers. College administrators have appealed that move and are awaiting a final decision about their fate.

John Samuel Raj, principal of the college, denied that he or other administrators encouraged students to protest but defended the students’ right to free speech and to demonstrate.

“We provide a free and socially aware platform to our students,” said Mr. Raj. “We never stop them going to protests.”

The government has also targeted Indian NGOs caught up in religious controversies. Indian Finance Ministry officials raided and closed down the high-profile Sabrang Trust for six months in September on charges that the group failed to file taxes and misspent donations. But Teesta Setalvad, the trust’s director who was arrested and nearly jailed before posting bail, said the government’s moves are revenge for her key role in filing petitions in Indian courts that led to investigations into the Gujarat riots of 2002.

More than 1,000 Muslims died during the riots, which erupted while Mr. Modi was chief minister of the state of Gujarat. The episode has long been a stain on his political record.

Ms. Setalvad’s petitions helped reveal that Mr. Modi’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party helped provoke the riots.

Ms. Setalvad declined to be quoted because she didn’t want to harm her chances in her pending court case.

Meanwhile, the government hasn’t investigated or suspended the license of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, a controversial Hindu volunteer organization that is widely viewed as the ideological wing of Mr. Modi’s ruling party.

Regarded as the biggest NGO in India, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh receives foreign funds but doesn’t have a bank account in India, according to numerous Indian media outlets whose reports the group has never denied. The government has not audited the organization. The group has performed forced conversions of Muslims to Hinduism and other practices that have garnered intense criticism and stirred religious tensions in India.

“Why has the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh not been monitored for funding?” asked Mr. Raghuvanshi. “Its profile and agenda are more dubious than any other organization. It sure is discriminatory.”

The government also has yet to move against the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, a radical Hindu organization responsible for the destruction of the Babri Mosque in northern India in 1992 and other incidents that have led to violence, Mr. Dayal said.

“These organizations have not been registered,” he said. “They are running freely and with the backing of government.”

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh district leader Sushil Kumar Sharma defended his group by saying his volunteers benefit India whereas the others undermine steps Mr. Modi is taking to improve the country.

“These NGOs take money from foreigners to conduct anti-national activities in India,” he said. “They don’t care of India’s place in the world. Modi is right in taking these steps. No one should have the right to operate in India if it tarnishes Modi’s development agenda in the outside world.”

Anil Chaudhary, an economist and adviser to the Indian Social Action Forum, a human rights organization, said attitudes like Mr. Sharma’s illustrate Mr. Modi’s stance toward NGOs.

“The government has a [hypocritical] policy,” said Mr. Chaudhary. “They have no issues with various foreign contributors investing in India for business purposes, but those who donate to NGOs annoy the government.”

Church leaders have accused the Indian government of an anti-Christian agenda following a move to reassess the minority status given to some schools.

Christians in Madhya Pradesh are concerned that Hindu hardliners will be given freedom to harass missionary schools under new recommendations by the state's minority commission.

Secretary of the commission, Nisar Ahmed, told UCA News that some "undeserving private schools" are using a law that exempts minority schools from needing to provide 25 per cent of their places to local poor students.

They have unlawfully secured minority certificates to avoid the rule, Ahmed said.

The commission has recommended that all schools currently registered as minority-run in Madhya Pradesh be reassessed.

However, church leaders have warned this may be a move by the government to undercut protections currently awarded to minority groups, including Christians, Muslims and Sikhs.

Father Maria Stephen, spokesman for the regional bishops' council, told UCA News the recommendation was "highly disappointing".

"The minority commission is meant for protecting and promoting the welfare of the minority institutions but by this move it has failed to do its duty," he said.

Christian leaders were not told of the recommendation before it was announced, he added.

The Hindu nationalist ideology espoused by the ruling BJP party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a right-wing combination of social movement and paramilitary group, has led to hostility toward Christians in some areas of India.

Uncertain future for Indian Christians after BJP’s election victories

India’s Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems to have consolidated its political position across India after the party won several state elections. These were held in February and March; after results were counted in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur, it had secured a comfortable majority in India’s most populous state, Uttar Pradesh, while achieving more dominance in other states, despite fears that the recent ban on currency would affect the ruling party’s fortunes.

In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP won 225 of the 403 seats, while also achieving an overwhelming majority in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand: 56 out of 70 seats. It also made an impressive performance in Goa and Manipur. Athough it did not win either state, it will be likely to form a government there. As a result, sixty-five percent of the Indian population now has come under BJP government, both at union and state level.

This success of BJP enables it to install a President of its own choice, elected in June 2017, after the present President Pranab Mukherjee, completes his term.

For minority groups this is not necessarily good news. In the run up to the elections there were reports of an increase in violence, especially against Christians. According to a report published by the Mumbai-based Catholic Secular Forum,

Promoting dialogue

Most attacks on priests and community leaders have occurred due to accusations of attempting to convert Hindus to Christianity. Top Hindu leaders publicly accused Christians, including Mother Teresa of Calcutta, of working to convert Hindus, which they say destroys Hindu culture and destabilizes society. Several Hindu organisations have conducted a “homecoming” of such people.

However, the Forum’s secretary also blamed the Indian Church for not taking a strong stand against atrocities. “The Church has to serve as a catalyst not only to bring all the Christian groups, rites and denominations together but also to promote inter-religious dialogue. Of late, special attention is being shown to the Brahmin community.‘Sadhu Chellappaa’ is a notorious figure attired in saffron, started a dubious outfit called ‘Christian Brahmin Seva Samiti’.

His modus operandi is distortion of Hindu scriptures to advance Christianity. He says he became a Christian as per the Order of Jesus and travelled throughout the state converting thousands of Hindus to Christianity. He became a full time evangelist in 1974 and founded the AgniMinistries. Since 1982, he has been running a Tamil monthly magazine, “Agni,” for Tamil people worldwide.

Sadhu Chellappa’s ‘Agni Ministries’ (AM) are governed by “Evangelical Action Team of India” (EATI), founded by him in 1980 in Coimbatore.EATI concentrates on conversion activities in the guise of services in Education and Health. The main objective of EATI and AM is to Plant Churches and Harvest Souls, for which purpose they recruit Pastors and Evangelists and conduct training courses for them.

Sadhu Chellappaa audaciously claims, “Diwali, the festival of lights, is a Christian Festival; Animal Sacrifice is a Christian culture adopted by Hindus and Gayatri Mantra actually glorifies Jesus. The Vedas, the ancient Indian sacred writings had anticipated the coming of Christ to take away the sins of man. They call Him Purusha Prajapati the creator God who would come as a man to offer himself as a sacrifice. Jesus Christ came to fulfill the  Vedic quest of the Indian people, because the Vedas are incomplete without Him, just as the Old Testament was fulfilled at the coming of the Messiah”.

He uses the services of another convert Vedanayagam, who brazenly calls himself ‘Pujya Sri Bhagavathar Vedanayagam Sastrigal’. Both of them organize evangelical sessions in the guise of “Kathaakaalakshebam” and hoodwink gullible Hindus. They focus on poor and lower middle class Brahmins, who are ignorant and have poor knowledge of their religious scriptures. Most have personal and financial problems, which make them vulnerable to the Chellappaas and Vedanayagams. (1)

Now we have a new breed of evangelists, who also have special expertise in inculturation techniques. Suseela Ragunathan is a Brahmin convert and she is an office-bearer in Christian Brahmin Seva Samithi. She identifies herself as ‘Suseela Maami Ragunathan’ and conducts evangelical congregations. Another evangelist by name Mani claims to have suffered a lot as a Brahmin Priest and had a turning point in life after converting to Christianity. He is a full time evangelist now identifying himself as Brother Mani Iyer.

Christianizing Hindu Festivals
Christianising native festivals of non-Christian nations is a part of inculturation, which is the time tested modus operandi of the Church to increase their harvest of souls. The Roman Catholic Church has been focusing on Pongal for quite some time. The reason may be attributed to the fact that the festival falls in January within days immediately after Christmas and New Year celebrations. The Church effectively uses its control over Dravidian Parties to Christianise Hindu traditions.

In the seventies, the Karunanidhi government fixed Thiruvalluvar’s birthday on the second day of Tamil Month ‘Thai’(16 January). Later in 2007, the Karunanidhi government changed the Tamil New Year from the month of Chithirai to Thai through an ordinance. (2)

On the same year at the same time, the DMK government inaugurated a government sponsored festival by name “Sangamam” conceived by a Christian NGO by name Tamil Maiyam founded by Father Jagath Gasper Raj and Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi. This festival would start with Christmas and end with Pongal. The government roped in all the folk arts and folk music into the Sangamam festival notwithstanding the inclusion of Classical Music and Dance.

A new concept called “Samathuva Pongal” (Egalitarian Pongal) was introduced in which, Pongal was celebrated within the Church premises, wherein people from all religions were made to participate. Though a few Muslims participated in such festivities, they never yielded to the idea of making Pongal inside the Mosques. Even the Christian clergy allowed the celebration only within their premises and not inside the Church. (3)

The recent addition to the Pongal festivities was the fable of ‘Martyr Devasahayam Pillai’ attempting to place his death anniversary alongside Pongal . As B.R.Gauthaman, Director of Vedic Science Research Center observes, “Many Christian festivals have been so “created” in line with the festivals of the local people. In the process, the reasons behind these festivals and the cultural identities in the minds of the locals have all but been annihilated, for which history bears testimony. By keeping the date of the death of Devasahayam Pillai conveniently open, it is amply clear that the ‘Devasahaayam Pillai Festival’ too has been craftily created by the Church to destroy the ancient tradition of celebrating Pongal. This clearly shows their agenda of using the Hindu festival only to convert gullible people. Many Christian organizations like ‘Jesus Redeems Production’ produced documentaries on “Christian Pongal” with traditional Hindu dance forms and distributed them, apart from releasing them on YouTube. (5)


“Christian Pongal”

In fact, Christianising Hindu dance forms have been going on for more than two decades. Institutes like Kalai Kaviri have been doing precisely that. In due course, many other organizations have come up both within and outside India. For example, Tamil Catholic Chaplaincy of Germany is one such organisation which celebrated Tamil Christian Festivals using Hindu Classical Music like Carnatic and Dance forms like Bharathanatyam. Evangelists like Sadu Chellappa, focusing on urban India and the high echelons of society, are already on the job of Christianising festivals like Deepavali, as noted earlier. Sadhu Chellappaa waxes eloquent on YouTube on how “Hinduism came from Bible” (7)

Now, if this claim of Sadu Chellappa is placed along with the claim of Swami Purnachaitanya of Art of Living that Krishna Dwaipayana (Sage Vyasa) was born as Jesus to Virgin Mary and spent 12 years of his life (untold in the Bible) in Mylapore (later confirmed by St.Thomas), one can understand the enormity of evil webs spinning around Hindu Dharma.

Backed by the Church and funded by foreign sources, many Christian Organisations make well-planned short-duration documentaries after distorting Hindu scriptures to suit their convenience. Several such outfits indulge in distorting Hindu scriptures to suit the Biblical themes and upload clippings and documentaries on YouTube. They produce longer and shorter documentaries and sell and distribute DVD copies. Scores of Christian Evangelical TV channels operate across the country indulging in distortion and denigration of Hindu Dharma. These organizations rope in converted film actors, TV artists and other such celebrities to air “testimonials”, which are spread through YouTube and other social media.(9)

The Bible with an Indian Touch
While the evangelists masquerade as “Sadhus and Sanyasis”, and the organizations and ministries distort Hindu scriptures and produce documentaries, the Roman Catholic Church came out with a most outrageous ‘New Community Bible’ christened as the “Indian Bible,” which included sacred verses from the Ithihasas, Gita, Vedas and Upanishads.

This Hybrid Bible depicted Virgin Mary barefoot, wearing a sari and sporting a bindi on her forehead, a naked baby Jesus on one shoulder, standing beside Joseph clad in loincloth and turban. It was released in June 2008. The hybrid Bible was reportedly conceived in the 1980s. The Indian Catholic clergy deputed over 20 experts on Christianity and Indian Religions to devise a commentary that would help Indian converts – the end product was the so-called “Indian Bible”! The Catholic Bishops Conference of India approved it and Vatican blessed the initiative. (10)

Conclusion
Religious conversion has been a subject of dispute for ages and the Church has been well-known for conversion activities to spread Christianity throughout the world in its pursuit of souls for harvesting. It mostly follows the strategies of allurement and pressure to convert the people following other religions. However, the most potent weapon in its armoury has been inculturation. The Church uses the process of inculturation with an aim to adopt the well-established Hindu cultural practices to confuse, corrupt and change the minds of the gullible masses.

The Church has started setting up Hindu “type” of buildings and calling them as ‘Ashrams’ controlled by ‘Saffron robed’ Padres, projecting themselves as ‘Swamijis’. The Hindu style of architecture, construction, layout and interior designs are being followed. The buildings also have the Sanskrit ‘Ohm’ symbol in front of them and the saffronised Padres claim that Ohm is not Hindu, but Vedic!

Some Churches also sculpture the statues of Jesus in ‘meditating’ posture, Jesus sitting cross-legged on a lotus with ‘Abaya Hastha Mudra’, Jesus emerging after a purification bath in Ganges and they even claim that yoga and meditation are not connected to Hinduism and that they are universal, common to all religions.

Jesus is he Krishna

• Jesus is placed on par with Bhagwan Krishna (we have seen our own “Corporate Gurus” making such claims) and the Church has even gone to the extent of showcasing Jesus riding a chariot like Krishna.

• The ‘Ashtothram’ and ‘Sahasra Naamam’ (108 and 1008 names) have also been prepared for performing ‘Archana’ on Jesus and ‘Aarti’ is also being performed.

• In Tamil Nadu, Churches have started ‘Padayatras’ for Velankanni, sometimes even with the ‘Irumudi’ (similar to the one taken for Sabari Mala Yatras). The Velankanni pilgrims have started wearing saffron robes. Many Churches have started giving ‘Chakra Pongal’ (Sweet Rice) as ‘Prashadams’ to people. Apart from Velankanni in Nagapattinam, the Velankanni shrine in Besant Nagar, Chennai also follows these practices of inculturation.

• Several Churches have started installing “Dwajasthambams” in the front yard, similar to Hindu Temples.

• The seemingly deliberate setting up of ‘Mary shrines’ in street corners, next to ‘Vinayaga’ enclosures / small temples, is a concerted effort to replace ‘Goddess Maariamman’ from the scheme of things as they exist now. Evangelists have been seen brazenly telling the village people that Mary (Mother) and Mari (Amman) are one and the same. During festival times one can find digital banners in the Santhome area of Chennai City near Marina Beach, claiming Mary as ‘Thiru Mayilai Annai’ (Mother of Mylapore), while the true ‘Thiru Mayilai Annai’ is Goddess Karpagambaal of Kapaaleeshwarar Temple.

• The whole world knows that ‘Girivalam’ (Circumambulation of Hill Temples) is being performed at Thiruvannamalai every ‘Purnima’ (Full Moon Day). Now, the same practice has been started by Churches at many places after erecting a huge Cross and a Prayer House on various hillocks. A Church on the hillock at a place called Acharapakkam near Melmaruvaththur Adi Parashakthi Temple is a classic example for Chrsitian Girivalam. (11)

• The Church has adopted every Hindu practice and the only thing left is the replacement of ‘Hindu Murthis’ with Jesus and Mary statues, which is most likely to happen anytime if this inculcation continues. Churches claim that this concept of inculturation has been aimed at bridging the divide between the Indian Cultural Experience and the Western Character of Christianity.

• Every Hindu symbol and every Hindu practice is being Christianized with an evil motive of De-Hinduising this society and the nation. This is creating havoc in the psyche of the Hindu majority provoking it beyond the limits of tolerance. Obviously the generic Church is scoring brownie points over the privilege of “propagation” given to the minorities in the Constitution.

• Nehru’s refusal to table the Niyogi Commission Report and the spinelessness of successive governments to enact laws banning conversions have resulted in huge territories of India getting Christianized rapidly. The North-east and Goa are lost totally; almost 50 per cent of Kerala is now Christian; Karnataka, Andhra and Tamil Nadu have become the focus areas of missionaries and rampant conversions are taking place even as we speak.

• The only remedy lies in bringing a Constitutional Amendment. At present, the Constitution ensures Freedom to practice and propagate religion and certainly doesn’t grant the right to convert others. Article-2’, which ensures freedom of religion, is subject to public order, morality and health. But, the process of inculturation being practiced by the Church now violates all of these, and calls for a total ban on such attempts and a legislation of a central anti-conversion Law. Also, the Constitution must be amended, so as to remove the word ‘propagate’, which is deviously used by the Church. The minorities must be allowed only to practice their religion and not to preach or propagate.

• To start with, the Center must enact a blanket ban on inculcation with stringent punishments for violators. If at all the generic Church wants to sell Jesus in India, let them try to sell him with their own testaments. Let them not steal Hindu scriptures, symbols and rituals shamelessly.

Ten Ways To Convert A Hindu: Shocking Insight In To A Christian Missionary's Agenda

Through friendship Evangelism is usually easy to initiate with Hindus. Most Hindus esteem religion in general and are free and open to speak about it. A sincere, nonjudgmental interest in all aspects of Indian life will provide a good basis for friendship. Personal interaction with Hindus will lead to a more certain grasp of the essence of Hinduism than reading many books. A consistently Christ-like life is the most important factor in sharing the Gospel with Hindus. The suggestions that follow should help to break down misunderstandings and help to build a positive witness for Christ. But learning and applying these points can never substitute for a transparent life of peace and joy in disciple-ship to Jesus Christ.



1. Do not criticize or condemn Hinduism. There is much that is good and much that is bad in the practice of both Christianity and Hinduism. Pointing out the worst aspects of Hinduism is hardly the way to win friends or show love. Criticizing Hinduism can make us feel we have won an argument; it will not win Hindus to Jesus Christ.



2. Avoid everything that hints of triumphalism and pride. We are not the greatest people with the greatest religion, but some Hindus are taught that we think of ourselves in this way. We do not have all knowledge of all truth; in fact we know very little to become “Christian.” (Think of what that means to a Hindu—India like America or Europe!) But we do desire all India to find peace and joy and true spirituality.



3. Never allow a suggestion that separation from family and/ or culture is necessary in becoming a disciple of Christ. To insist or even subtly encourage a Hindu to leave his home and way of life to join the “Christian” way of life in terms of diet and culture, etc., is a denial of Biblical teaching.



4. Do not speak quickly on hell, or on the fact that Jesus is the only way for salvation. Hindus hear these things as triumphalism and are offended unnecessarily. Speak of hell only with tears of compassion. Point to Jesus so that it is obvious He is the only way, but leave the Hindu to see for himself, rather than trying to force it on him.



5. Never hurry. Any pushing for a decision or conversion will do great harm. God must work, and the Holy Spirit should be given freedom to move at his own pace. Even after a profession of Christ is made, do not force quick changes regarding pictures of gods, charms, etc. Be patient and let a person come to fuller understanding and conviction in his own mind before taking action.



6. Work traditional Hindu (and Biblical) values into your life, like simplicity, renunciation, spirituality and humility, against which there is no law. A life reflecting the reality of “a still and quiet soul” (Psalm 131) will never be despised by Hindus.



7. Know Hinduism, and each individual Hindu. It will take some study to get a broad grasp of Hinduism and patient listening will be required to understand where in the spectrum each Hindu stands. Both philosophical and devotional Hinduism should be studied with the aim of understanding what appeals to the Hindu heart. Those who move seriously into work among Hindus need to become more knowledge-able in Hinduism than Hindus themselves are. Some study of the Sanskrit language will prove invaluable. Remember the Biblical pattern from Acts 17 of introducing truth to the Hindu from his own tradition, and only secondarily from the Bible. For example, the Biblical teaching on sin is repulsive to many modern Hindus, but their own scriptures give an abundance of similar testimony. Bridge from Hindu scripture to the Bible and Christ.



8. Be quick to acknowledge failure. Defending wrong practices in the church and Western Christianity only indicates we are more concerned for our religion than we are for truth.



9. Share your testimony, describing your personal experience of being lost and God’s gracious forgiveness and peace. Don’t claim to know God in His majesty and fullness, but share what you know in your life and experience. This is the supreme approach in presenting Christ to the Hindu, but care must be taken that our sharing is appropriate. To shout on a street corner, or share at every seeming opportunity is offensive. What God does in our lives is holy and private, only to be shared in intimacy to those who will respect the things of God and his work in our lives.



10.Center on Christ. He alone can win their hearts’ total loyalty to Himself. In your life and speech so center on him that all see in your life that God alone is worth living for. Hinduism is often called “God-intoxicated,” and the Hindu who lives at all in this frame of mind is put off by Christian emphases on so many details to the neglect of the “one thing that is needed” (Lk. 10:42). A Hindu who professes faith in Christ must be helped as far as possible to work out the meaning of that commitment in his own cultural context. Often a new follower of Christ is ready to adopt any and every practice of Western Christians, and needs to be taught what is essential and what is secondary in Christian life and worship. For example, it can be shown that the Eastern practice of removing shoes in a place of worship has strong Biblical precedence despite the fact that shoes are worn in Western churches. A new believer should be warned against making an abrupt announcement to his or her family, since that inflicts great pain and inevitably produces deep misunderstanding. Ideally, a Hindu will share each step of the pilgrimage to Christ with his or her family, so that there is no surprise at the end. An early stage of the communication, to be reaffirmed continually, would be the honest esteem for Indian/Hindu traditions in general that the disciple of Christ can and does maintain. Approaching Hindus on these lines does not result in quick conversions and impressive statistics. But a hearing will be gained from some who have refused to listen to traditional Christian approaches. And new Disciples of Christ can be taught to deal more sensitively with their contexts, allowing them to maintain an ongoing witness to their family and society. As the leaven of the Gospel is allowed to work in Hindu minds and society, a harvest is sure to follow in God’s own time.

India's Christian Challenge
Hindu resentment toward missionaries' assault on religion and culture erupts in violence

India found itself in the unwelcome focus of world attention when in late December churches were attacked and burned in Gujarat State. Then on February 22, a Hindu mob attacked a church in Orissa and burned alive Australian missionary Graham Staines and his two sons. In this multi-part analysis of these alarming developments and complex issues, we begin with the first-hand report of our Delhi correspondent sent to Orissa to assess the situation.

I was shocked to see the charred vehicles in which three human beings were burned alive a few days before. An atmosphere of gloom and shock hovered over this tribal village even seven days after the incident, when I first reached the remote place. The police had set up a temporary post and were busy in investigation. It took nearly nine hours for the first police to arrive at the scene, so distant is Manoharpur. The simple villagers were shocked to see for the first time in their life so many vehicles, each bringing in another VIP--minister, senior official, journalist, investigator, etc. The heavy police presence intimidated them. Seven local villagers were among the 49 arrested.

Coming in the wake of a spate of attacks on Christians on the matter of religious conversion in Gujarat and elsewhere in the country, the burning alive of missionary Graham Staines with his two young children, Philip and Timothy, shocked Indian society. "A monumental aberration," stated the President of India, Shri K. R. Narayanan. Politicians of all color, social activists and common people condemned the ghastly act. Staines, an Australian by birth, had been working in the area for over three decades, running a leprosy home at Baripada along with other social projects. He came to Orissa in 1965 and knew the local languages.

Manoharpur is in the Keonjhar district of Orissa. It is a difficult 46-kilometer trek through dense forest from Anadpur, the nearest rail station. There is no drinking water, food or staying arrangements. During 50 years of independence, the village has remained as backward as before. There is no school, hospital, health center, community hall... nothing. It is in such neglected backwaters of the Indian tribal areas that missionaries such as Staines were welcomed.

I tried to speak to villagers about the incident. Even though I, too, am a native of this state, Orissa, I found most avoided responding out of fear. But a few did share their experiences. Mrs. Phool Besra of Manohar Pur, whose house lies next to the church, witnessed the incident along with other members of her family. "Such a bad thing, terrible thing, happened," she said. "Sahib, [Mr. Staines] comes here every year. This time they came on Thursday. They show films on Jesus. We were all sleeping in the open air. Suddenly we heard voices, so many people were shouting. It must have been around midnight. They were around 50 in number. I did not know any of them. They warned us, 'Anyone daring to come out will be murdered.' They broke the glasses of the vehicles, then set them on fire. Not less than 250 Christians were sleeping in the church. Nobody came to the rescue. Scared for our lives, we could not do anything. The crowd did not attack anybody else. They shouted, 'Jai Bajrang Bali' ['victory to Lord Bajrang Bali'--a battle cry], blew a whistle and left."

The administration and many people hold the Bajrang Dal, a militant arm of the Sangh Parivar, responsible. They deny involvement. The "Sangh Parivar" is a group of organizations with loose connections to the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS). It includes the BJP political party now ruling India, the VHP Hindu activist group, the Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh labor union, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram and others, according to long-time RSS member Sri Pran Nath of Delhi.

As with other recent attacks against Christians in India, early newspaper reports called the incident the work of "outsiders" and did not report any preceding local disputes. But Giridhar Mahant, former village chief (sarpanch) of neighboring Gayal Munda, told me, "Tension among the tribals was there earlier. During Raja [a famous Orissa festival], the Hindus and the tribals do not plow the land. It is a religious as well as social custom. But the Christian tribals break this tradition and plow their lands during the festival. Since 1983, the local police had to camp here during Raja to prevent conflict." Giridhar continued, "Similarly, the tribals perform Asadhi Puja during the month of July. They worship the village Deity and offer goats, hens, etc. This is done by mass voluntary contributions. Before conversion, all the tribals contributed, but then those who converted to Christianity stopped participating in it. This angered the rest of the tribals. I condemn the killings, but you have to go deep into the matter to understand why such a thing happened."

Thakur Das Murmu, the local sarpanch, mentioned nothing of the past. "It is the nasty work of some outsiders," he said. "I am shocked. This should not have happened. I blame the government for this. No developmental work has been done in this area."

One of the few local Christians who would speak with me was Samson, 30. His father is Dasnath Marandi, a tribal Hindu. He described the yearly "Jungle Camp" conducted by Staines, as a form of "friendship evangelism" in which each Christian who attends invites a non-Christian friend. "At 6 am we get up," he explained. " At 9 am we have bible class until 11 am, followed by lunch. At 2 pm we have bible class up to 4 pm. At 6 pm we watch films on Lord Jesus, his life, teachings, etc. For the last 20 years, it is regularly held in the month of January." He was inside the church when the attack occurred and said the mob prevented anyone from getting out of the building.

Manoharpur is a tribal village, mostly of Hindu origin. It was 100 percent non-Christian in 1980. In 1986 one family was converted. As a result of Staines' camps, the number has reached thirty.

I also went to Baripada, in the district of Mayurbhanj, to the Staines' single-story home next to the Baptist Union Church. There was a heavy police presence. I met Mrs. Staines, but she very politely refused to give an interview, as it was just one day after her husband and children's funeral. Her brother, John Weatherhead, had come from Canada. He told me, "My sister is staying on, and the good work will continue by her."

Miss Mamata Das of Baripada, a Baptist and family friend of Staines, extolled the missionary. "He was one of the finest human beings. He knew Oriya language as well as Santhali and Ho [both tribal dialects]. He translated the Bible into Santhali. He ran the leprosy home with a lot of dedication. Staines led a very simple life. Yesterday 10,000 people joined his funeral procession."

Now, many weeks after the incident, most of the key questions remain unanswered. The police are unsure who did it, and the main accused, Daran Singh, remains at large. Nearly all of those initially arrested have been released for lack of evidence. The local district magistrate has stated the Bajrang Dal has no local presence, though they were widely blamed for the incident. The area is extremely remote. It is not possible for outsiders to even find such a place in the middle of the night, much less to then escape. Necessarily, local people were involved.

The question remained in the minds of onlookers, if Staines was involved in social work only, why was he conducting Jungle Camps for the promotion of Christianity? A major state probe has been launched to answer these questions. The process of conversion and modernization has directly affected and threatened the age-old tribal culture, tradition and religion. The simple, yet determined, tribals are not pleased about it.

There are many obstacles to dealing intelligently with the recent Hindu-Christian clashes in India. Four major problems obscure the issues: 1) Media reports, especially in the English-language Indian press, are mostly unhelpful editorial rhetoric; there are few factual reports. 2) Initial stories on several Hindu-Christian clashes were inaccurate, and not corrected in future reports. 3) The national and international media attached far more importance to the tragic murder of Staines than to equally ghastly murders of Hindus during religious violence elsewhere in the country at the same time. 4) Hindus do not understand the missionary motivation and agenda.

The Media Bias: Hinduism Today received hundreds of media reports on the December through February clashes between Hindus and Christians. The vast majority consisted of public statements by politicians and editorial commentary; a rare few provided factual accounts of incidents. The best was that of a local Gandhian leader [see page 18] who in the process condemned the media's "telephone journalism;" a shallow reporting that makes it is very difficult for Indians to form a clear picture of happenings.

The press bias is easy to discern: blame is cast upon the ruling BJP party, the RSS and the VHP, and the incidents are characterized as part of a coordinated nationwide campaign by the Sangh Parivar. By blaming the "Sangh Parivar," the press disregards the root cause: missionary activity and resulting social disintegration. They fail to recognize or give credence to the very real desperation that is motivating individual Hindu communities to stop the missionaries' destruction of their traditions.

Sloppy Reporting: In cases where further investigation was undertaken, it was often found that either 1) the report was inaccurate in characterizing the incident as a religious clash or 2) that tensions had simmered for some time and finally boiled over. In the latter cases the reasons were always the same: converts' refusing to participate in ancient festivals, pressuring relatives to convert, insulting Hinduism and damaging icons or temples--tactics taught to converts by missionaries.

Take, for instance, the Rajkot "bible burning," in which Hindus attacked a missionary school and torched hundreds of bibles. The incident was portrayed in the media as unprovoked desecration. But there was clear provocation. As Haren Pandya, Home Minister for Gujarat State, reported to the State Assembly, the school's minor girls were being forced to make "a signed commitment on the last page of the bible which said they considered Jesus Christ as their savior." He called this "a constitutionally illegal undertaking."

One of the most scandalous incidents of 1998 was the rape of four Christian nuns in Jhabua, initially reported as religious terrorism by Hindus. But journalist François Gautier, of Le Figaro, France's largest circulation newspaper, visited Jhabua and reported, "The nuns themselves admitted it had nothing to do with religion," as their attackers were both Christians and Hindus.

Then there are the claims of "atrocities" and massive damage in Gujarat's Dangs district. For all of the "dozens of incidents" that continue to be cited by Christians and others, the actual damage for all the buildings was just Rs. 400,000 (us$10,000), and no one was killed.

Discrimination: Gautier points out the incongruity of the strident outcry in the Indian press over the Staines murders. "Is the life of a Christian more sacred than the lives of many Hindus?" he challenged in an article published in the Hindustan Times. "It would seem so, because not long ago in Punjab or Kashmir militants would stop buses and kill all the Hindus--men, women and children--not in one incident, but many times over several years. But there never was such an outrage as provoked by the Staines murders." Consider, for example, the incident in Kashmir [sidebar, page 23] in which a Hindu family of four, including a small child, were killed by Muslim terrorists seeking to frighten Hindus into leaving the village of Sukcha. In a prominent Indian newspaper based in the US, the murders warranted an 11-line report on page 23. In the same issue is a front-page story of a march by Indian Christians protesting "attacks against their brethren in India." In like manner, the Christian bias found its way into the Western media.

Another demonstration supporting Gautier's position on the one-sidedness of the national and international press was a petrol-bomb attack on a Hindu temple in Melbourne, Australia, on March 11, possibly in retaliation for the Staines murder. Earlier the same day an Australian Christian politician demanded that India protect its Christians and "put an end to communal violence." But the attack was "non-news," rating only a short item in the local newspaper, even though the priest and his family barely escaped, and the police investigated the bombing as attempted murder. The property damage was ten times greater than in all the clashes in Dangs. Despite press releases sent out internationally by Hinduism Today on the incident, there has been little reaction. The Australian press complained loudly when Christians in India were harmed, but ignored a potentially deadly attack on local Hindus.

Religious violence is occurring all over the world, not just in India. In the US, dozens of African-American churches have been destroyed in recent years by arsonists. The motivation is no secret, as one group of perpetrators said at their trial: "to strike at the spirit and the soul of the Black community."

Hindus can alleviate anti-Hindu bias, especially in the English-language press, by demanding greater accountability. Inaccurate reports can be corrected by media watchdogs, and accurate information provided when it is missing. All concerned Hindus can help by writing to newspapers and magazines and insisting on accurate and factual reporting on sensitive issues.

Missionary Motives: Why are Christian evangelists stationed among nearly every hill tribe across India, and in the remote areas of many other countries? The answer to this key question lies in Christian strategy.

Evangelists devoutly seek to fulfill the "Great Commission," as is stated in Matthew 24:14: "This gospel of the Kingdom of God shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." Harold Lindsell, former editor of Christianity Today and co-founder of Fuller Theological Seminary, explained the missionary thinking in his essay, "Fundamentals for a Philosophy of the Christian Mission," in the book The Theology of the Christian Mission. Summarizing the "conservative mission theology," he writes, "The obvious fact that Christ has not come indicates that the Great Commission has not been fulfilled as yet. When it has been fulfilled, Christ will come again." In other words, preaching the gospel to the world will bring the return of Christ.

The global plan to achieve this--now available on Evangelical web sites [see page 17]--is to put missionaries in every "nation," (defined as a "people group" with a specific language and culture). India has the largest number of "people groups" yet to hear the gospel. It is, in fact, a main target of evangelists anxious to fulfill the Great Commission, have Christ return, and--according to the Jehovah Witnesses and some other Pentecostals--be among the 144,000 souls who go to heaven.

The web sites we visited barely mention social service as an objective, in contrast to the position taken by the missionaries funded by these organizations in India. Lindsell states, "The humanitarian aspect of medicine and education is not considered to be a proper reason for their use. It is an incidental byproduct of means which have for their primary objective the conversion of men."

Christians speak openly of their mission in terms of "spiritual conflict." The "Lausanne Covenant" is a statement of the huge 1974 International Congress on World Evangelization, encompassing most of the missionary-sending churches (see full text at www.ad2000.org/handbook/lcwe.htm). The Covenant states, "We believe that we are engaged in constant spiritual warfare," "with the principalities and powers of evil [the forces of Satan], who are seeking to overthrow the Church and frustrate its task of world evangelization." The text continues in military terms: "God's armor," "battle," "weapons," etc. Such obstacles as a tribal's worship of Hanuman, are believed the work of the very devil himself, to be suppressed aggressively by any means. Here is found no attitude that would go far in improving community relations. To convert a person requires first destroying his existing religious beliefs, even those that are tens of thousands of years old.

But conversion is a flawed undertaking. In missionary activity, much damage is done to the faith of many with the gain of only a few converts. The effort threatens to destroy myriad cultures, as it has done in the past on massive scales in the Americas, in Europe, Africa, etc. (see reports on pages 19 and 25). India is, in fact, one of the few nations in the world that has retained its indigenous faith and not been converted to Christianity, Islam or communistic atheism.

The government of India keeps track of the funds sent into the country for Christian organizations, but the numbers are not readily available. The latest figure we found was for our 1989 report on evangelism in India. At that time, the government said us$165 million was coming into India each year, this from a yearly worldwide mission budget of $1 billion for all churches combined. The numbers today are probably much higher.

What can Hindus do about the missionary threat? On the governmental level, it is first a matter of enforcing existing laws. For example, had those who desecrated the Hanuman statues in Dangs been arrested for their crimes, the subsequent attacks by fed-up Hindus may not have occurred. India stopped issuing visas long ago to foreign missionaries (as have many other countries including Singapore and Japan and nearly all Muslim countries), and can expel those found to engage in illegal activity. The government can continue to release the figures of foreign contributions, which allows the average Hindu to better understand the situation. India has stringent laws against denigration of another's religion, and these, too, can be uniformly enforced. It is not a violation of religious freedom to enforce laws that apply to everyone equally. The economic exploitation of tribal Hindus can be alleviated on a government level, so that villagers are not tempted into conversion by hopes they will gain economically.

The late Ram Swarup, one of India's great thinkers this century, said, "If one truly understands Hinduism, he would never feel a need to convert from it, for Hinduism is the whole, other religions a part. Everything can be found within Hinduism itself. Hindus should become aware of the forces of conversion. We need not panic, but we cannot afford to be indifferent. In these difficult times, our greatest strength lies in our innate spirituality. We should recover our confidence and self-identity."

Swarup's cogent analysis highlights the need for religious education on every level of Hindu society. It means, too, that Hindu leaders should actively study the missionary movement, log onto their web sites, read their literature, get on their mailing lists in the West, follow their activities and respond accordingly with positive programs.

All responses to the missionary programs must embody the Hindu ethic of ahimsa--nonviolence in thought, word and deed. Challenges by other religions--even attempts to destroy thousands of years of tradition--do not provide justification to deviate from the lofty principles of our own. Hinduism survived the Muslims, it survived the British, and it will survive this, too

Oh, What a Tangled Web We Weave...
Claims of a global Christian plan for conversion are routinely met with skepticism by the Indian press. For example, in the Indian Express report of February 7, 1999, on VHP activities in the northeastern states of India, sarcastic reference is made to a priest "who is convinced that Christians the world over have a devious agenda in Arunachal--maybe even a pan-Indian agenda." Anyone caring to investigate can visit a cybercafe and log onto http://www.bethany. com/profiles/c_code/india.html to study detailed conversion plans for not only Arunachal Pradesh, but all of India.

At the Bethany site, India is divided with scientific precision into 186 individual "people groups." A long description is followed by advice on how to convert each to Christianity. For example, under the Hindi-speaking "people," it is stated, "They must first be set free from bondage to millions of false gods so that they can put their trust in Jesus. Six mission agencies are currently working among them." After each such description, a list of "Prayer Points" is given. Typical is the following: "Pray against the spirits of Hinduism that are keeping the Munda-Santal [of Bihar] in spiritual darkness."

Their mission statement: "Our top priority is fulfilling the 'Great Commission' [to bring the Christian gospel to every people in the world]. We concentrate on the most unreached nucleus of people in the world--India. Our vision is to train and support 1,000 native missionaries in North India and plant 300 new local churches." Notably absent from these sites is "social service" as an aim in India--contrary to missionaries' claim. The real goal is conversion of men, which means the destruction of Hinduism.

Christian missionaries will not succeed in India – Mohan Bhagwat

“We have forgotten ourselves. We are all Hindus. Let our castes, languages we speak, regions we come from, gods we worship be different. Those who are sons of Bharat Mata, are Hindus. Hence, India is called Hindustan,” – Mohan Bhagwat

Raking up the issue of conversions, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said such attempts are unlikely to be successful in the country as the missionaries “do not have the strength”.

Bhagwat pitched for Hindu unity and asked members of the community to come together irrespective of caste and language.

“… After converting people to Christianity in the US, Europe, they (missionaries) are eyeing Asia. China calls itself secular, but will it allow itself to come under Christianity? No. Will Middle-East countries let it happen? No. They now think India is the place.

“But they should keep it in mind, notwithstanding their strong push over 300 years, only six per cent of Indian population could be converted to Christianity. Because they do not have strength,” he said.

The chief made the remarks while delivering valedictory address at Virat Hindu Sammelan, organised by Bharat Sevashram Sangh in Vansda in the district.

Bhagwat sought to buttress his point by saying how two churches, one in the US and another in Birmingham in the UK, were converted into Ganesh temple and offices of Vishwa Hindu Parishad respectively, by a Hindu businessman in America.

Bhagwat asked Hindus to remember “who they are” and that their culture is “superior”.

“Hindu community is in trouble. Which country are we living in? Our own country. This is our land, from the Himalayas (in the north) to the sea (in south). This is the land of our ancestors. Bharat Mata is mother of us all.

“We have forgotten ourselves. We are all Hindus. Let our castes, languages we speak, regions we come from, gods we worship be different. Those who are sons of Bharat Mata, are Hindus. Hence, India is called Hindustan,” he said.

Terming Hindu religion as one based on truth, Bhagwat said Hindus never tried to convert people pursuing other religions as they believe in co-existence.

He urged people of all religions to “walk together” to make the world a better place and India a world leader.

He reaffirmed the RSS stand that Hindus and non-Hindus living in “integrated India” have common ancestors who share the same DNA.

Bhagwat urged the attendees to reach out to their “brothers”, to whom they have not gone for ages, keeping aside differences of caste, religion and language.

“We should go to our brothers whom we have not gone to for ages. We did not go to them and hence these things (spread of other religions) are happening. We should go to them to share their pain, cooperate with them and perform our long-forgotten duty to make them aware of who they are, that we have common ancestors,” he added. – DNA, 31 December 2017

Though well-intentioned in his remarks, Mohan Bhagwat is somewhat naive about Christians and their missionary agenda. Conversions continue till today and Modi Sarkar continues to issue special visas to Christian missionaries. Christians being only 6% of the population is an out-of-date figure and very misleading. The true figure is closer to 15%—though nobody really knows as new converts are now hiding their Christian identity in order to grab government handouts meant for the Hindu poor. – Editor

This is the most bad evil that can happen to any country. Even destructing a twin tower can be tolerated. Its just a matter of money. If we have money we can build another 10 towers.
